So I’m sitting here, watching the first game of the playoffs for the Avalanche, and they’re tied 4-4 with the Vancouver Canucks. I can’t even believe they’re having this much trouble – it’s insane! Hopefully they’ll pull it together in the next few minutes, here.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks, what with choir rehearsals and work. We finally certified our version 1.5 release last Wednesday, so the pressure’s off a little for the next few weeks. I had been staying until 10:00 nearly every night trying to get it finished. They’ve been pretty good to us, though – they had a party for us last Friday, gave us Monday off, and we’re supposed to have another, more formal, party some time next week. We also didn’t have to come in Wednesday because of a snowstorm, so life’s been pretty easy to make up for the previously hectic schedule. I certainly can’t ever complain that I work for a company that doesn’t appreciate me.
I’ve been over at church nearly every evening for a week straight, getting ready for Holy Week. On Sunday I had a musical Passion play that I was part of (I played Caiaphas), Monday night was Triduum Choir rehearsal, Tuesday was Seder Meal Choir rehearsal, Wednesday was our parish Seder Meal, and tonight was Holy Thursday Mass. Tomorrow night I have Good Friday service, Saturday night is the Easter Vigil, and Sunday morning I have to sing at Easter Mass. Luckily I’m having fun – I certainly wouldn’t consider doing it next year if I wasn’t.
I’ve started seeing someone – a girl I met through all of my new friends that I got to know when I moved home to Colorado. Her name is Jennie, and she’s about a month shy of 21 (no comments!), but we have a lot in common – we both love movies, the stage, hockey, baseball, and football, and we watch most of the same TV shows. I don’t really know where things are going, exactly, but I’m taking it easy and just going with the flow. She’s in Greeley most of the time since she is still in school at the University of Northern Colorado, but she comes down almost every weekend. We’ve spent a lot of time just hanging out with other friends; we haven’t really had a lot of “unchaperoned” time yet.
Chris Drury just punched in a goal with 1:07 left in the game – things are looking up.
So where was I? Oh yeah. So we haven’t really had much time to ourselves yet, and I don’t know if we will anytime soon. So I guess time will tell where things are going. Man, if she reads this, she’s either going to be really upset or really embarrassed. I guess I’ll have to take my chances, since I’m not about holding back in this diary – would kinda defeat the point, don’t you think?
The Avs held on to win their first playoff game 5-4 on the game winner from Chris Drury at 18:53 in the 3rd. Quite a game! I hope it’s not that close the rest of the series – we need to ice this quickly so we’re fresh for the second round, which will probably be against St. Louis, unless someone pulls an upset. Of course, I’m getting ahead of myself, but I don’t have a doubt that the Avs will win this round.
